Spaceships

I wanted to continue with my space watercolor series so I decided two different space ships (a rocket ship and a ufo) would do.

Greetings From Outer Space

Greetings From Outer Space
watercolor on watercolor paper, 4 inches by 6 inches
June 2011

Greetings, fellow space travelers! It's Hollis again, this time on another outer space adventure to Saturn.

I wanted to continue my spaceman watercolor series. This time I decided to add a retro rocket ship and a planet and moon in the background. Onward and upward!

Spaceman

June 2011

When I was in elementary school I was a Young Astronaut. I grew up right by NASA and I always thought it would be so cool to travel into outer space. Nowadays, I mainly just stick to my science fiction movies and books and after reading "Kaleidoscope" by Ray Bradbury I decided to paint this (hence the name Hollis on the astronaut). I'll just go ahead and say he has a happier fate though.

Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless

I think this is pretty self-explanatory... you shouldn't value material possessions (jewelry, money, fancy clothes) above all, there are more important things in life.

Here's another greedy executive who does whatever he it takes to get the profits.

Executive 1

Executive 1

This is my interpretation of the greedy executive who profits off of the destruction of others and the environment. He doesn't think so, but he's really just a ridiculous clown, someone who does not deserve our time and respect.

Too Many Cartoons

Been Watchin' Too Many Cartoons
acrylic on canvas, 11 inches by 14 inches
May 2011

After watching too much Ren and Stimpy, I just had to paint something that was literally eye-popping. This was a lot of fun and makes me want to do some Rat Fink type of art.

Bryan's Hands

Bryan's Hands
acrylic on canvas board, 12 inches by 16 inches
May 2011

This was a piece done for my painting class in college. I love my husband's hands, all the little lines and creases. This painting took a while, but I was really happy with the final result.

Self-Portrait with Pulled Tooth

Self-Portrait with Pulled Tooth
acrylic on cardboard
April 2011

Before painting this I had a tooth pulled and had been experiencing strange dreams. Also not in my usual style but mainly just experimenting.

Painted my husband for my college painting course. My second portrait painting for this class.

Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali
acrylic on canvas board, 9 inches by 12 inches
February 2011

My favorite artist! I have loved Salvador Dali and his art for years and so the first painting I wanted to create for my college painting course was this one, based off of a famous photograph of the artist.
